Well I just went down yesterday to pick of my Team packet for Team Mission Possible. It was a bit sad, seeing as how Chris will not be back from Iraq in time to speed walk it with us, but all our bibs and other gear has been picked up. My Dad will be arriving on Saturday and go back to Arizona on Monday, just in time for his softball season to start! I will try and post pictures, if I can, to my blog, after the Race! Anyone in San Diego who wishes to come and watch should be at Balboa Park (6th & Palm) by 8 a.m. on Sunday, November 2nd! Thanks to all my supporters- I wouldn't be able to do this event without you guys!!!

Well I have been running twice a week. I have a hairline fracture in the shin bone of my right leg and can tolerate running only about twice a week. I can do three miles, but in more than 20 minutes, so that is sad! But, happily, Dad and I will be speedwalking the Race, as we can walk consistently faster than most runners can run (thanks to all those Breast Cancer 3-Day's I did)! We got our Team Shirts made yesterday and they are quite stunning I must say! If you are in San Diego, I hope you will come out to Balboa Park to cheer us all on on November 2nd!

On this Patriots Day, I ask that we all take a moment out of our busy days to remember all those who have lost their lives in the tragic events of 9/11, all of the family members and friends who will always mourn the loss of their loved ones, all the soldiers who have perished in the defense of freedom, and all those soldiers still out there fighting! If 9/11 showed us anything, it showed that love and compassion cannot be destroyed! May God bless this country and all of you too!

It's been a busy Labor Day Weekend for Team Mission Possible! We had an extremely successful Wine Tasting Fundraiser held at Tango Wines (http://www.tangowine.com/) in lovely Little Italy of San Diego! It was a small turnout, but we raised over two-hundred dollars and raffled off a beautiful painting and several posters from Quality Art Central (http://www.qualityartcentral.com/)!!! Special thanks to all who came to the fundraiser and helped Team Mission Possible come much closer to their fundraising goal! As always, I am humbled by the generosity of others!!! Thanks again to everyone who made the event memorable!

Just wanted to say hi and let everyone know that I haven't been doing much as far as training goes. I finished Tennis on the 6th and had to have some surgery on the 18th, so I'm out of commission for a week! Keep your fingers crossed for me! Otherwise I am doing well! Dad is walking 3 miles a day, so I know he will be ready for the walk! I am thinking I may run the Race and then catch up with him on the walk, since the walkers get released from the starting gates last! Hope you are all doing well and have enjoyed the summer-it's hard to believe that summer is almost gone already!

I am happy and honored to say that my Dad, Kenneth Kurtz, will be joining us on the Race for the Cure as a walking partner. I am very excited that he will be joining me as I have tried to get him to walk the 3-Day with me in years prior! I am excited to see him out there, especially since he has enjoyed some cancer events before, like the Relay for Life, while my Mom was still alive! Welcome to the Team Dad and thank you so very much for walking- it means the world to me that you will be there!

I just wanted to let everyone know that because of my wonderful family, friends and other donators, Team Mission Possible has been placed on the Pink Ribbon Honor Roll for being one of the top fundraising teams! We could not do any of this without the love and support of our donators, and we thank you all for your generosity and support! My tennis training is almost done, so my run training will start. I will start by just trying to run for 20 minutes, then build up from there, instead of trying to run 1 or 2 miles the first day! This is the suggested method from all the marathon runners I know, so I am sure it will work! I have to admit, playing tennis is a blast and is a real whole-body workout, so I am definetely going to keep that up! Once again, thanks to you all for your friendship and love and for keeping the memory of two very special women alive!

Well, I finally got all my fundraising letters out and am starting my training. I got a good training program for beginner runners from a pal on my Softball team, so I am anxious to start! This summer I will be quite active- I am on my work softball team (Go Scared Hitless!) one night a week, am taking Tennis classes with Chris two nights a week, and am trying to run three times a week! Who would of thought that I would ever be so physically active- I certainly never thought so, but hopefully I can serve as an example that anything is possible if you put your mind to it! Take care of yourselves and be sure to check back for more updates!!!!

Well, I have signed up for the race. For those of you who know me, you know I am short and don't have much leg to be a runner, but I'm going to try something new! It's only 5K- if I can walk 60 miles on the 3-Day this should be nothing (hee hee!). Check back for updates on my training status!
