Pledge Information
Most of the money we raise from the Komen San Diego Race for the CureŽ comes from pledges; additional funds raised by each race participant. If each participant raises just $125 in pledges from family and friends, we would be able to award $1.5 million in the fight against breast cancer or provide 15,000 mammograms.
75% of net proceeds from the Komen San Diego Race for the CureŽ stays in San Diego to support uninsured and underinsured individuals touched by breast cancer in the areas of diagonistics, screening, treatment, services and education. The remaining 25% goes to support important national research.

About the Race
The Susan G. Komen Race for the CureŽ Series raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrating breast cancer survivorship and honoring those who have lost their battle with the disease. With funds raised by the Komen Race for the CureŽ Series, Komen with its Affiliate Network is able to fund breast cancer research grants, meritorious awards and educational, scientific and community outreach programs around the world. Since its origination in Dallas in 1983, the Komen for the CureŽ Series has grown from one local Race with 800 participants to a series of more than 100 Races with more than one million people expected to participate.
